At SAFMI, we believe that every step forward brings us closer to a malaria-free future. While our fish tanks are quietly reducing mosquito populations across Freetown, our team is just as active behind the scenes—developing and strengthening the systems that make our initiative impactful.
One of our current priorities is enhancing our fish maintenance process. We are working to improve the consistency and frequency of our visits to ensure every tank remains clean, functional, and properly cared for. This means refining our schedules, assigning new team responsibilities, and introducing tools to help us monitor the performance of each fish tank more effectively.
In parallel, we are collecting valuable data from hospitals, schools, universities, and urban neighborhoods to evaluate the full impact of our mosquito control initiative. By analyzing case trends, mosquito activity, and community feedback, we gain a clearer understanding of what’s working—and where we can do better. These insights are helping us shape the future of SAFMI. From adapting our distribution strategies to exploring innovative upgrades for tank design and maintenance, every piece of information brings us closer to smarter, more targeted interventions. We look forward to see the following report to be approved by the National Malaria Control Program.
However, for us this is more than a report—it’s a promise. A promise that SAFMI will continue to evolve, learn, and listen. Because building a healthier Sierra Leone is not just about fish and tanks—it’s about people, knowledge, and action. Stay tuned as we continue this journey—one that’s grounded in science, powered by community, and inspired by hope.
